The University of California now has open access policies that cover everyone who authors scholarly articles while employed by UC. Policies covering Academic Senate faculty were adopted first; a new policy covering all other UC authors was issued October 23, 2015. Under the terms of these policies, authors make a final manuscript version of each of their articles publicly available in eScholarship, or provide information to eScholarship to another location where the article is freely availble.

Please visit the Office of Scholarly Communication website at uc-oa.info. for more information about UC's open access policies, including:

  • quick guides on how to deposit;
  • the full text of the policies;
  • information on waivers and embargos; and
  • news coverage and publisher notifications about the policies
