What permissions do authors grant to eScholarship journals?

Modified on Thu, Sep 5, 2024 at 3:23 PM

Each journal is able to choose the terms of the publication agreement it uses with its authors.

  • At a minimum, journals get authors’ permission to publish the article in eScholarship, free of charge, in perpetuity.
  • eScholarship journals do not require authors to transfer copyright ownership.

For journals that want guidance in creating a publication agreement, we provide a basic agreement that journals can adapt as needed - see the attached file.
