Typesetting

Modified on Tue, Nov 25 at 2:51 PM

Before you begin

  • Complete the Copyediting stage.
  • Navigate to the Typesetting workflow stage and select the article you want to work with.

To typeset an article for publication, complete the following steps:

  1. Assign a typesetter - This person will receive a notification of their assignement and will be asked to prepare the final, production-ready PDF and/or HTML files for publication.
    • The typesetter should upload only 1 PDF file, for PDF-only publishing; or 1 HTML file and 1 PDF file for HTML-based publishing. These files, which should appear within the 'Current Galleys' section are the files that will be publicly displayed upon publication.
  2. Review the uploaded files - Once the  Typesetter has completed their work, the Editor should review the files carefully to ensure they meet the journal's template and standards.
  3. If required, assign proofreader.
  4. If proofreading results in needed changes, ask the typesetter to make corrections.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until no further changes are needed.
  6. Be sure to also review the Supplementary Files section, under Optional Files. Supplemental files can be selected from the author's original submission, or new files can be uploaded.
  7. Once you’re happy with the final version, click ‘Typesetting complete’ to move the article to pre-publication.

As long as there are typeset files assigned, you can complete the typesetting stage at any point.
